OFFICE OF THE MUNICIPAL TOURISM    

Kalayaan Tourism Office as a division is administratively under the Office of the Mayor. The office performs regulatory function over tourism-oriented establishments, does research and evaluation of tourism related statistics, assist the local tour operators, tourists and facilitates special tourism related promotional events.

FUNCTIONS OF THE OFFICE    

The Office shall encourage and assist in an orderly development of the tourism industry within Cavinti and ensure that the services the industry provides are of as high a quality as is reasonably possible. Without limiting the function, the office shall:

(a) Coordinate the activities that provide services for visitors to Kalayaan and ensure that those services are of the highest possible standard;

(b) Endeavour to preserve and stimulate pride in the cultural heritage of Kalayaan;

(c) Use its best endeavors to prevent developments in tourism that, whether air not economic benefits may be gained, have a harmful affect on the social and cultural life of the people;

(d) Discourage development that is likely to intrude on or disturb the daily life of the people or detract from their right to privacy;

(e) Encourage the greatest possible of Kalayaanians participation in the tourism industry;

(f) Use its best endeavors to ensure that Kalayaan obtains the largest possible financial benefit from the tourism industry;

(g) Encourage people from other countries to visit Kalayaan as tourists.

Dolores, officially the Municipality of Dolores Tagalog Bayan ng Dolores, is a 4th class in the of Quezon, P. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 32,514 people.It is located at the foot of .

Introductions

    ESTABLISHMENT OF THE TOWN  

The town of Dolores was established in the year 1834. It was decided by the provincial officials of Batangas and Tayabas, with the concurrence of bishop of Nueva Caceres and later approved by the Gobernador y Capitan General de las Islas Pilipinas and the Archbishop of Manila, that a town be established in the immediate vicinity of Sitio Hambujan. The place (now Barangay Sta. Lucia) was a famous bathing place at that time.On April 11, 1835, the Gobernador Heneral issued a decree establishing the boundary of the new “pueblo” of Nuestra Senora de los Dolores

AGRICULTURE

Dolores is primarily an agricultural municipality with a total land area of 6035 hectares, 3858.29 hectares are devoted to production of high values crops, other areas are planted with coconut, rambutan, citrus, lanzones and other fruit trees. About 80% percent of the total population is engaged in crop production and livestock.

CULTURE

The people of Dolores are naturally warm and friendly. They practice simple life that is devoted to their beliefs and the family. The annual foundation day celebration of Dolores is commemorated with the conduct of three activities; the cultural presentations, Street Party, and the highlight, the Hambujan Festival. It features street dancing and ritual competition which should value the four major elements of nature; wind, water, fire and earth.

    INAUGURATION OF THE NEW TOWN GOVERNMENT  

On May 23, 1835, the local government of Nuestra Senora de los Dolores was inaugurated with Don Francisco Fernando as its first Governadorcillo. The seat of the new town was then Barrio de Maranli (the present site of the town proper-Poblacion). The seat of government was transferred from Poblacion to Barangay Bulakin II (present site) since September of 1966.

LOCATION

Near the foot of Mt. Banahaw, along the western boundary of Quezon Province lies the town of Dolores. It is about 100 kilometers south of Metro Manila and 46 kilometers northwest of the Provincial Capital, Lucena City. It is adjacent to San Pablo City, Laguna, bounded on the north by Nagcarlan, Laguna, on the south by Tiaong, Quezon, on the east by Lucban, Quezon and on the southeast by Candelaria, Quezon.

CLIMATE  

There are essentially two main seasons in Dolores: a wet season that extends from June to November, and a dry season that runs from January to April, with May and December being the changeover months. Freshwater, Lakes, Rivers and Streams.

Mt. Banahaw watershed sustains water for creeks, rivers, and falls. Even rivers traverse the national park namely: Balayong, Maimpis, Liliw, Dalawitan, Malinao, Nagcarlan and San Diego. These river systems directly provide water for domestic, irrigation and recreational purposes of nearby municipalities. Lagnas River originating from Kinabuhayan has religious significance for residents and visitors. Mt. Banahaw (Dolores side) is also rich with falls some of which are Sta. Lucia Falls, Suplina and Crystalino Falls.There are two lakes located in Brgy. Dagatan: Manlalayes and Gunao Lake. Manlalayes is dry during summer and fills during rainy season.

How to Get to Dolores, Quezon | Transportation

HOW TO GET TO DOLORES, QUEZON VIA PRIVATE TRANSPORT

Take the South Luzon Expressway, exit at Batangas. Continue driving towards the direction of San Pablo City. After the Meralco office you will see a sign “TO DOLORES” turn left . Follow the road and it will lead to the town of Dolores.

HOW TO GET TO DOLORES, QUEZON VIA PUBLIC TRANSPORT

JAC/JAM/Lucena Lines stationed at Kamias and Cubao along Edsa or in Buendia-Taft(LRT) has an hourly trip to Lucena. The bus ride to San Pablo City(SPC) will take about two hours (Depends on the flow of traffic). From 7-11(store) SPC take a tricycle to the SPC public market. Take the jeep going to Dolores Quezon. Last trip leaves at 8:00pm.
